The Incorregible Troublemaker, father and hero of Chile
To choose some character to talk about was too difficult for me at the beginning, so I started to think about some character that have marked me with his/her feats and that have marked too to the beginnings of Chile and it's independence.
Some people thinks that the "father of the motherland" was only O'Higgins, but I think that Bernardo was only an usurper that took advantage of other people and the real hero of Chile was Manuel Rodríguez Eroíza, the creator of the famous squadron "Hussars of Death" and who literally gave his life for the independence of Chile.
He worked organizing different revolutionaries groups against the State of Spain and creating an aura of revolution in whole of Chile, with his guerrillas he was almost unstoppable when attacking to the realists surprising them.
In a fight against the Spanish people, the chilean army was defeated and many people escaped to Argentina, but Rodríguez didn't want, so he stayed at Chile to be the resistance with other compatriots.
Rodriguez was a very brave person, he didn't want power like O'higgins or other people, he really wanted the independence of Chile and he demonstrated it with his feats. He was a revolutionary, a real revolutionary that, like many others, generated hate from the powerful people, but bravery from the common people, people who wanted like he a real independence of Chile.
Rodríguez was murdered at his 33 years old by the same liberator army.
This murderer was the first Political Murderer of Chile.
Hail Rodríguez and J.M.Carrera, real "fathers of the motherland"
I am agree with you about the deep importance about this great man, he was one of the most important revolutionaries against the State of Spain!
